There are many misconceptions about charter schools. Let’s set the record straight:


“Charter schools aren’t public schools.”

Charter schools are public, non-profit, tuition-free, and open to all students.

Charter schools ARE public schools, funded through state and federal formulas. Charter schools do not receive local property tax revenue; when state and local revenue are combined, charters receive about one-third less on average than traditional public schools.

Charter schools are open enrollment and, when needed, use a lottery system, just like other public school options.
